I don't know if the vikings were actually feared as much as myths might indicate as there was migrations by many people in times of disorder, there was something that caused some of them to do strange things like the ancient Picts of Scotland who built stone buildings underground unlike all others and they did not speak a usual language and were Iron Age so there's many questions to look at all round. They were the ones that did rock carvings found there and displayed tattoos over their skin.

It's a wonderfull story, but somehow I have an impression that it's based more on vivid imagination than actual facts. All evidence was covered by a mile high ice and washed away by water when it melt. You might find something under the ice in the north. Maybe someone has.

The kind nature of the Danish or northern people is a result of a long history. There was a time when the Viking warriors went around in Berserker war rage pillaging and slaughtering. But did they?

Did the Viking Berserkers really exist?

No not that one LP,  the iron age glaciation and the general history known around about time. Scandinavians have been digging up people from those times all over the place ~ just don't hear much about it. (yet we do hear about wooly mammoths being dug up in Klondike fully preserved.) Same thing there except it's people, only hear about them when the individual person discovered has evidence of being murdered. Then they're more likely to assassin a date of death. Iron Age stage. if you go to Denmark people can be seen on display. I have seen them, 2 at a museum when on holiday there. The male specimen estimated time of death being 400 BC believed to be a victim of human sacrifice, it's hard to believe the friendly and mild mannered northern people would be so brutal., it sure brings up the thought from the book of Esther a scroll included in the bible of the times. - the one book that doesn't mention God. Indicates Rejoicing at the Slaughter of innocent people from India to Ethiopia and perhaps beyond. Who knows how folks would have felt about it in those hard icy times should those types suddenly turn up, as king of slaughter himself issued instructions in all languages of death to all who didn't like his new wife. The book of Ester scroll 470 BC about. I was told the male corpse I'ld seen at the museum appeared to be a traveller, found naked except for a cap, belt and rope still attached. They were cagy in those icy times of mayhem and weary of adverse strangers I guess. We can only assume they wouldn't offer up their own good selves for sacrifice now considering how advanced they were. Just saying an opinion here of cause based (possibly) on myths and some real documentation. mr tullund man preserved in a bog.
