Yes well I can see how an animal could become confused as the signs are very similar to standard regulatory road signs and recognising themselves on the sign could be misconstrued that the area is a safe one to cross. I think in dangerous situations where their wellbeing is at stake a warning sign for the animals should be erected instead similar to a wrong way sign. I've actually seen wrong way signs warning animals of possible dangers and on the whole they seem to work well. photo1) A confused deer. ~  photo 2) A wrong way warning sign. ~ photo 3) A listeners deer crossing comment.
