When law enforcement do their statements and it's not quite what actually happened in Canada we refered to it as 'scripting' or in the witness box you were doing a 'Playhouse 90'.
Probably has gone on since Robert Peeles time and will continue long after we are all gone.
The only way to deal with it is through documentation, having your own evidence gatherers, and at the end of the day civil litagation.
