16 May 2010 — GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA—Omar Khadr's chief interrogator used the threat of being gang raped in U.S. prisons by four big black guys to scare him into talking.
As part of the fear up harsh technique, the interrogator would kick and scream during his questioning of the Canadian teenager at the U.S. prison in Bagram, Afghanistan, the former soldier told a pretrial hearing Thursday.
The interrogator, identified in court only as Interrogator One, first met Khadr when the Toronto-born detainee was 15, sedated and shackled to a stretcher. Khadr had just been discharged from the military hospital hours earlier.
A military judge protected the identity of Interrogator One during his testimony, although his involvement in Khadr's case is widely known and had been reported on previously.
Khadr watched Thursday's proceedings intensely, staring at the video monitor relaying Interrogator One's testimony from Arizona.
In 2005, Interrogator One pleaded guilty to abuse in connection with the death of an Afghan taxi driver at Bagram, admitting to forcing water down the throat of the detainee and twisting a hood over his head...
