When there is war there will be less food, and local food will be staple food. That happened during WWII, and afterwards that became a good research topic for finding out why people got healthier.
The good food is that food grown without industrial fertilizers, kitchen waste works better, tree ashes always works.
I posted another article on how to grow a greenhouse in the winter - I don't know what region you live in - but if you can set up even a small greenhouse you can grow many of these antibacterial/antiviral foods. Law does not matter, it is so easy - really low cost. The cheap C vitamin also works, a lot of them around the clock. Iodine in bottles is no problem - who cares about "RDA". Salt with iodine is a joke - wrong salt and wrong consentration.
Most of the salt used in food processing isn't iodized. And people are using less and less iodized table salt at home, because of the misguided medical advice (..) to avoid salt. (People who eat more salt live longer...)
