kidney beans are poisonous , you should let them sit in water , rinse then cook fully , sometimes crock pots will only get up to 170 f and the increases the toxic potency 500 percent , if fully cooked no problem   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bean  go to toxins heading

Yes, but inquisitive Americans want to know about Pancreas Beans and how to enjoy them with fresh Cilantro.
Hey Jeff... could you help find the fingers on a chicken when you get a chance?
Chickens do not have fingers but what's odd is that people don't know they have tongues and teeth.
Yeah... and Buffaloes don't have wings

Judging by the size of most Buffalo Wings I'd have to say that must be a breed that's probably not much bigger then a pigeon...

Oh I'm on roll... somebody make it stop!!!
odd. I've been eating kidney beans out of the can and in other forms for years, and I have not noticed any side effects of "toxins" and "poisons". Don't believe everything Wiki tells you, it is after all open to public editing. But thanks for the heads up on this info.
I think the post regards raw, hard kidney beans before they've been processed, which they have been if you're eating them out of a can, along with the Bisphenol-A that lines the can. Eating canned food is a death sentence.
if they are in a can they have been cooked !! or have you found them raw in a can ? there are lots of references to this eating [ non - fully cooked ] will have you puking and crapping for about 4-5 hours ! [just Google it] most would think it would be some type of food poisoning , its mostly diagnosed correctly in the UK , [ why I do not know ] most was traced to crock pots that did not bring the temp up high enough hence the 170f reference , beans are the cheapest form of protein you can get , most survival pantries should have beans and ..hopefully bean-o

ps some animals like chickens cannot eat raw beans either , even soy has to be cooked/heated for animals
Yes, but what can you tell us about Appendix beans? And have you seen this?

well machinegunmomma did her home work !! , the potential for poorly cooked food could easily occur in low fuel/wood event , and there is no build up of these toxins in your system cooking removes it and its gone

Yep, I agree, Linda. In my experience with the paleolithic diet I was on from November 2007 until September 2009, I learned that humans ate a diet of basically wild game (meat), wild fruits and veggies, nuts and berries in the Paleolithic Era (the Stone Age) and diverged into eating a diet that includes grains and dairy about 10,000 years ago, at the beginning of the Neolithic Era, when man discovered agriculture and animal domestication. It was during the last century that we added processed foods and additives to the mix. By far, the worst of it has come in the last century, as far as ill effects go, but the addition of grains and dairy didn't help, either.

In case you're wondering, the reason I had to quit the paleo diet was because, even though it had cured my type II diabetes within the first five months and I lost 75 lbs, apparently, the diabetes had damaged my kidneys, even during the short time I was diabetic (less than a year) and the high protein from the meat in the paleo diet was adding to the damage done. If I'd had no kidney damage, I'd probably have been fine on the paleo diet. As it is now, I'm trying to eat something a bit closer to a quasi-vegetarian diet as a substitute, so I don't gain back too much body fat and wind up diabetic again. So far, so good, and my kidneys have improved some since September.
