YUKON — A Yukon mother says her son was discriminated against Tuesday when she and a group of homeschoolers were asked to leave a Pizza Hut restaurant in Muskogee.
Candi Smithson's 2-year-old son, Preston, has severe food allergies.
Celiac disease prevents him from eating anything containing gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. Preston also is allergic to certain milk proteins, making things like butter and other dairy products hazardous to his health.
The group was in Muskogee on Tuesday to see replicas of the Niña and Pinta ships, which have been cruising the Arkansas River in recent weeks.
While in town, Smithson, another parent and four children, including Preston, stopped at Pizza Hut to have lunch.
“I had brought in a hamburger from McDonald's and some french fries,” she said. “About the only thing Preston can eat is the patty because McDonald's doesn't use fillers.”

That's an outrage!
It is an outrage! This article has been circulating around the celiac and allergy forums. You can believe Pizza Hut will lose business over their shameful insensitivity. I can understand if everyone in the group had walked in with McDonald's food but this was one little child out of a group of people. The waitress should not have said anything and just assumed that this two-year old was a picky eater. What if the child had been a little younger and the mother fed it baby food - would Pizza Hut have thrown them out for that too?
Sheeple don't like anything that's different, have you ever noticed how people stare at a handicapped person, especially a mentally challenged person,or to someone who is troubled outwardly, verbally. All these people need our compassion not our criticism.Jesus spoke to the lepers,he went into the drinking establishments and spoke to the drunks,he spoke to the prostitutes. Why aren't christens a little more christen?
I want to reply to what Nikki said about what if the child was younger and was eating baby food. What if she was feeding her baby breast milk,it freaks people out.Why should it,it's natural and we've been doing it for millions of years. Why we modern people make me sick!
I breast fed my daughter for 33 months so I had my share of freaking people out. Older women are downright hostile to breastfeeding moms because they didn't do it in their generation (which explains why there are so many low IQ people around today).
The war against breastfeeding is escalating. It cuts into the profits of formula makers and Big Pharma because breastfed babies are healthier. And this is outrageous:

Breast are as natural as moms apples!
Nestlé is the key offenders in the promotion of formula over breast feeding, especially in the third world. My mother was a breast feeding counsellor, so I became aware of Nestlé's practices quite early on in life.
There are a lot of younger women who oppose breastfeding too; I once got up and walked away from a date, when she started to complain in an open air cafe when a mother began feeding a child. That kind of stupidity makes me very intolerant.
Nikki, I applaud your dedication to your daughter. :)
I commend you for walking out on your date DTOM
I applaud you to, DTOM. It is stupidity, to say the least. Another reason they would like to end breastfeeding is because it's good for the mother. It drastically reduces the risk of breast cancer which is bad for the cancer industry. And the big reward for the moms who stick with it for more than six months is weight loss which is bad for the weight loss industry. The fat gained in pregnancy is nature's way of having a supply of fat later on to produce breast milk. After six months when the baby is larger and feeding more, the fat just melts away.
