I recently picked up a book on Aphrodisiacs written by a Dr Raymond Stark back in the 70's its a very eye opening book and basically lists a couple hundred herbs, mushrooms cacti and succulents that act as Aphrodisiacs and also coincidentally as phycadelics quite often in large doses. Whats interesting to me is the isolation and identification of the active Alkaloids, most of which have been bastardized and patented by pharmaceutical companies, the plant is then conveniently illegalised or suppressed. Opium and Cannabis are the obvious ones, Lysergic acid, Mescaline, Khat, Strychnine, Safrole and Ephedra are just a few.
