I was looking at this page here on http://www.spaceweather.com and I found out that solar activity, if it gets worse that it may cause the power grids to fail. This means a great chance for possible martial law since electricity and food going bad would bring a lot of problems in the USA. Batteries and solar power supplies will run out very quick than it did when we have those hurricanes or tornadoes knocking out power. Food shortages will dramatically increase and so will batteries. The grocery stores will not have enough power to keep frozen food and deli,
and other perishable food cold. Air conditioning or heating will not be available causing
heat strokes and other health problems. The FEMA camps will probably open who knows.

All types of communications such as internet, radio, TV and other forms of electronic communication will be limited. The servers might or might not run on solar power. But most forms of electronic communications for business will make the economy worsen if
this event happens.

POWER GRIDS IN PERIL: The National Academy of Sciences has released an important new report detailing how geomagnetic storms could damage the infrastructure of modern society. An area of particular vulnerability is power grids. Ground currents induced during century-class storms can melt the huge, multi-ton transformers at the heart of power distribution systems. Because modern power grids are interconnected, a cascade of failures could sweep across the country, rapidly cutting power to tens or even hundreds of millions of people:

This is in the space weather website. http://www.spaceweather.com

This is another reason why the power grids would possibly get weak. I found this
during reasearch.
