By Ben Faulkner
In a letter published in August 2007 in The News-Times, I urged readers to consider supporting Ron Paul in the 2008 Republican presidential race.
Four years later - after treasonous bailouts, the disastrous presidency of a teleprompter-reading community organizer, so-called healthcare reform, a pointless and illegal incursion into Libya, the Stalinization of our airport security, increased centralization of power first under Bush then likewise under Obama, and the continuing erosion of our fundamental rights - I am again writing to ask Columbia County voters to support the candidacy of the only consistent constitutionalist seeking the Republican nomination in 2012.
Review
The conspicuous media blackout regarding Ron Paul’s near-win at the Iowa caucuses is another sure sign that mainstream media outlets carry a poisonous effect on public discourse in the United States.
You might not know it by the media coverage, but there are two candidates from Texas in the Republican presidential field. One finished sixth in Iowa’s Republican straw poll last week with 4 percent of the vote. The other finished second with 28 percent.
The guy who finished just 1 percentage point behind winner Michele Bachmann was not Rick Perry, the newest entrant in the 2012 White House race.
