An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday for an Aurora man who died after being Tasered by a police officer Monday night.
Police said officers responded to several 911 calls about 10 p.m. Monday for a man acting wildly and jumping on parked vehicles in the 700 block of Fourth Avenue.
When the first officer arrived, 37-year-old Jersey K. Green was on top of a parked SUV. When Green saw the officer, he jumped off the SUV and ran away, police said.
When a second officer arrived at the scene Green ran toward his squad car and jumped on the hood, police said. As the officer was getting out of the car, Green moved toward him, police said. The first officer thought Green, who was 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, was going to attack the back-up officer, so he used his Taser, hitting Green in the upper thigh and side, police said.
The two officers then struggled with Green, who was eventually taken into custody with the help of a third officer, police said.
Paramedics arrived at 10:04 p.m. and began treating Green, police said. While inside the ambulance, Green fought with paramedics and had to be restrained by officers. He also spit out a bag containing what appeared to be crack cocaine, police said.
Green then lost consciousness and stopped breathing. Paramedics began CPR and took him to Rush-Copley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
