The Red Pill
I thought it was a love affair
But it wasn’t really there
So many experience this despair
Thinking someone actually cares,
So much is meant by a wayward glance
Caught you living in a trance
Got caught in a hectic dance
They mistook for romance,
Walking down this twisted trail
As all hope seems to fail
A warm heart now as cold as a winter’s gale
You were once beautiful now you look so frail,
On this forbidden morning
I’m sleepless and yawning
I need an angel to sing if anything
Perhaps just one more passionate fling,
I summoned just enough will
To take the red pill
Left all my sorrow on the windowsill
Then I lay next to the corpse to get my fill,
There seems no end in sight
To which I can finally end my plight
Looking forward to another sleepless night
Nothing in this world seems right,
Forgive me if I complain
I fell out of the fast lane
Overwhelmed by the strain
For now just trying to remain.
