"Baby Boxes" - Michigan Safe Delivery of Newborns Law
(WWJ/AP) - The Michigan House has passed legislation that lets parents leave their newborn babies in special, secured boxes at hospitals, fire departments and police stations in addition to personally surrendering them to emergency services personnel and first responders.
Lawmakers approved the four-bill package Wednesday that amends the Safe Delivery of Newborns Law to allow for use of these baby boxes, which the state Department of Health and Human Services would be tasked with regulating. The bill also redefines "newborn" as a child not older than 30 days.
Among requirements listed in the legislation, House Bill 5750 and House Bill 5751, the box must allow for a baby to be placed inside it anonymously from outside of the facility and then be locked, so that no one outside the building can remove the child. Placement of a baby in a box must also trigger a 911 call as well as a notification, within 30 seconds, to people inside the building that a baby is waiting.

Hey Diane, I would think If somebody steals somebody else's baby, ya can bet ya sweet bippy they're gonna sell it in a blackmarket slave/sex/or underground adoption for major profit $$$ I don't think these baby boxes have ATM slots ;)

Only brain dead libturds would think this up. They did this years ago...only they would leave the kids at churches in hopes that they would be found. This is so reminiscent of animal shelters where you place an unwanted dog or cat into a box and then leave. A newborn less than 30 days old? What mother in her right mind would give her child away after say 29 days? Or is this for the baby daddies who do not want to pay child support?

Wow. This is crazy. Are there really that many unwanted babies that they need drop off boxes? Are they drive thrus? What if somebody brings a baby that doesn't belong to them without the parents knowledge?
