The pet was supposedly tied up in a grassy area outside the terminal when he broke free.

'The dog lunged at him and in the process the chain had broke. My sister went over to go grab him because she was standing less than five feet away from him, but in the process, the security guard had shot him right in the middle of his head.' said Shanae Ramos, the dog owner's sister, to Hawaii News Now.

Shanae said that the dog was friendly and outgoing. 'This dog is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. He wouldn't hurt anything,' she said.

'The next thing you know, my dog is shot on the floor and I'm screaming because blood is gushing out, and I have my daughter in my hands,' Ramos said to KHON.
