At War, Everyone Is An Enemy
This picture was taken at Kerch, in 1942, where the Russian Army discovered a kilometer long, 4 meters wide, 2 meters deep pit filled with corpses of women, children, elderly and adolescents. Near the moat were frozen puddles of blood. They were also littered with children's hats, toys, ribbons, cut off the buttons, gloves, bottle nipples, boots, galoshes with stumps of arms and legs and other body parts. All this was spattered with blood and brains. The killers shot a defenseless population with explosive bullets. And, since killing didn't seem enough, they also "bundled up" and tied murdered little children and hung them on barks of trees (perhaps, for "visual appeal".)
This was the lowest man could stoop to, over 70 years ago. Now, imagine, what depths of ignoble depravity man must have reached in all these years. Even the devil would shy away from the evil that resides within people and their actions.
Such is the world we live in. Such are the people that inhabit this world; as our neighbors, our cousins, our friends, relatives, as the leaders we idolize, perhaps, even in our own house! Yet, when such incidents happens, we express shock and, until such barbarity is committed, we go on believing that the world still has good, conscientious people. Little do we realize that, in believing so, we do nothing but, live in a fool's paradise.

Ukrainian Canadian historian Serhiy Yekelchyk writes that during 1943 and 1944 an estimated 35,000 Polish civilians and an unknown number of Ukrainian civilians in the Volhynia and Chelm regions fell victim to mutual ethnic cleansing by the UPA and Polish insurgents.[15] Niall Ferguson writes that around 80,000 Poles were murdered then by Ukrainian nationalists.[16] Norman Davies in his book No Simple Victory: World War II in Europe, 1939-1945 puts the number of murdered Polish civilians at between 200,000 and 500,000, while Timothy Snyder writes that Ukrainian nationalists killed "between forty to sixty thousand Polish civilians in Volhynia in 1943".[17]
Hitler was an anti-Communist. Jews were to be protected and used as a asset. In Poland and Ukraine Germans faced a quagmire of old conflicts.

This picture pains my heart, I see my own and feel my heart breaking.
How could the supposedly most intelligent species on our planet do such unspeakable things to another soul?
I can not even begin to imagine the pain that filled those mothers and father hearts when they found their children's bodies, knowing the love and intelligence that once resided within these now lifeless forms. Now what was once a breathing life issued from their loins, no more will they hear the laughter or joy.
I am ashamed to know this is what human nature brings to this world. I hang my head in shame and my tears fall for ever human life snuffed out for personal gain and profit.
This is not what intelligence should offer to the world!
Kindness and comfort should be the way.

Considering the US has never gone a decade without war, ever since its independence, its not too far fetched to think that all the incidents that have found place in newsprint and gained media coverage altogether make just the tip of the iceberg. What we don't know is many times more than what we know.
