FRANKFORT, KY — A bill that would allow Kentucky farmers to grow industrial hemp if federal restrictions are removed has been scheduled for a vote in a House committee on Wednesday, and is expected to advance.
harvested hempThe proposal, Senate Bill 50, has already passed in the Senate but hit a roadblock last week in the House Agriculture and Small Business Committee, leading many to believe the bill would die there.
But now, instead of requesting a university-led study of hemp, committee chair Tom McKee, D-Cynthiania, has announced that the measure is scheduled for a vote Wednesday and is expected to pass — and that he intends to vote for it himself.
