A visibly agitated John McCain was roused from bed early this morning in an FBI raid. Senator McCain, who makes his Washington home in a tony section of Georgetown, could be seen arguing with the agents as he stood on the pavement in slippers, crew shirt and lavender Senate boxers.
Prior to leading McCain away, agents were seen removing computers, file cabinets, a PlayStation 4 console and…

Ten workers at the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant were exposed to radiation from contaminated mist, TEPCO says. Workers in the building were prohibited from using tap water, which comes from the same tainted source 10 km from the facility.
Exposure levels detected by radiation monitors worn by workers were found to be as much as 10 becquerels per square centimeter – 2.5 higher than the safe radiation exposure…

A New Jersey police department is replacing their beat cops with “virtual patrols” that can spy on you.
The Camden County Police Department recently created the Real Time Tactical Operation Intelligence Center in order to “help a reduced police force” by installing 120 cameras across the city, according to My9NJ.
The cameras can record in real-time and save footage for future use.
The police department also monitors the public with a mobile 40-foot high sky…

Threatening to trigger a new—and possibly more devastating—nuclear disaster than the original or ongoing one at the Fukishima plant in Japan, a risky plan to remove fuel rods from a damaged reactor building could unleash an “unprecedented” level of radiation, according to experts, if things go wrong.
According to reporting by Reuters, the radioactive material within the fuel rods slated for removal are equivalent to 14,000 times the amount released in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and…

The following is an excerpt from Ninety Percent of Everything: Inside Shipping, the Invisible Industry that Puts Clothes on Your Back, Gas in Your Car, and Food on Your Plate by Rose George ( Metropolitan Books, 2013): Friday. No sensible sailor goes to sea on the day of the Crucifixion or the journey will be followed by ill-will and malice. So here I am on a Friday in June, looking up at a giant ship that will carry me from this southern English port of Felixstowe to Singapore, for five weeks…

'Children of God for Life is calling on the public to boycott products of major food companies that are partnering with Senomyx, a biotech company that produces artificial flavor enhancers, unless the company stops using aborted fetal cell lines to test their products.
In 2010, the pro-life organization wrote to Senomyx CEO Kent Snyder, pointing out that moral options for testing their food additives could and should be used.
But when Senomyx ignored their letter, they…

Japan's apocalypse continues. Emergency conditions persist. No end in sight looms. Fukushima's radioactive discharges can't be stopped. They continue. They're uncontainable.
At issue is by far the worst environmental disaster in history. It's multiples worse than Chernobyl. It's an unprecedented catastrophe. It's reason enough to abolish nuclear power.
According to Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, about 300 tons of radioactive groundwater flow into the…

US Representative Marlin Stutzman said, "Most people will agree that if you are an able bodied adult without any kids you should find your way off food stamps." That depends on whether those ways can be found. If Stutzman and other members of Congress believe it's that easy to find a job with a living wage, they're either ignorant of middle-class life or victims of free-market delusion. In either case, Congress, with its shameful response to the people who elected them, has not only made the…

Have you ever seen the movie “Idiocracy”? It is a movie about an “average American” that wakes up 500 years in the future only to discover that he is the most intelligent person by far in the “dumbed down” society that is surrounding him. Unfortunately, that film is a very accurate metaphor for what has happened to American society today. We have become so “dumbed down” that we don’t even realize what has happened to us. But…

As we incrementally creep closer to a police state, the Lewiston Maine Police Department organizes an intimidation campaign to show off the newest crime fighting tools.
LPD recently unveiled the 1981 M113APC armored tank and MARCbot IV robot, equipped with a Xbox controller, to an unaware and uninformed general public.
This gift, courtesy of the Obama Administration, is free to the LPD as a reallocation of military surplus. Of course we all know nothing is free in this…

The New York Times reported in a front-page article Saturday that the US government will arrest two employees of JPMorgan Chase in connection with a multi-billion-dollar trading loss in 2012 which the bank hid from regulators and investors.
The criminal charges are part of an attempt by the Obama administration to create the appearance that it is cracking down on Wall Street criminality, while it continues to shield top executives and allow banking fraud and criminality to continue…

Fukushima Proved that Dry Casks Work - Many bad secrets have been revealed about Fukushima.
For example: Plant operator Tepco just admitted that it’s known for 2 years that massive amounts of radioactive water are leaking into the groundwater and Pacific Ocean Technology doesn’t currently even exist to stabilize and clean up Fukushima. Indeed, Tepco’s recent attempts to solidify the ground under the reactors using chemicals has backfired horribly. And NBC News notes: “[Tepco] is…

Government representatives of a number of major American cities have seized on Detroit’s bankruptcy filing last month to raise calls for an intensified attack on public worker pensions and benefits. The wave of comments have come in the weeks following Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr’s announcement that he will seek to cut the pensions of Detroit city workers and retirees.
The most aggressive statements were made by billionaire New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who said in a…

Tougher rules by the US government have increased the number of Americans who are renouncing their citizenship in the second quarter from a year earlier, a report says.
Federal Register figures showed that expatriates giving up their nationality at US embassies climbed to 1,131 in the three months through June from 189 in the year-earlier period, Bloomberg reported.
The new figures brought the first-half total to 1,810 compared with 235 for the whole of 2008.

Last week, thousands of fast food workers from across the country walked off their jobs to demand a living wage of $15 an hour. Ever since, the Republican talking point machine has been running on all cylinders.
According to pundits on the right, giving fast food workers or any other workers, for that matter, a $7 or $8 bump to their hourly wages would cut so much into the bottom lines of “job-creators” that business owners would have to either pass the cost of a living-wage onto…
