Pas si vite cher ami! As sweet as you are, even a couyon would not let you pass on by without explaining what you meant about the difference between those born with advanced intellect and those whose intellect develops over time.

No Cathi, I do not have expectations along those lines for young men but I do for society and these men are lied to. That's why they lust for war, some of them.

Pfc Victor Agusto and Sgt Travis Bishop are two of the better known resisters who refused to deploy to an illegal war and are facing the consequences in military courts martial.

We have the same goals you and I. Somewhat different perspectives, not entirely, but the same goals.

We are allowing the system to use and abuse our young people, to convince them that killing innocents is OK, killing those different. It's not OK. We citizens, we plebes, we proletariat, we all see the same sky. We aren't separated by beliefs but by governments with personal agendas and lies perpetrated by those same governments, the media, schools and houses of worship. Shame on them all.

It's as I said, very, very sad.

How do I support the troops? I meet them at airports and I'm there when they leave. I send them care packages by holding drives to collect supplies, and ask who doesn't receive anything at all so that we may include them. I'm in touch with several of them through email and snail mail. I write to my congress people and senators and annoy the hell out of them, I'm with a group that works with our state representatives on legislation for our military and veterans, you already know what I do on Gather. And I stand with the Patriot Guard, not as much as I'd like due to my schedule, but I do. You want me to list it all? Mittens and Penthouse? Jeff?

People fail to accept responsibility Cathi. It is incumbent upon young men and women to understand fully the world around them before they enter into it.

I realize that rarely happens. That's just the difference between those born with advanced intellect and those whose intellect develops over time.

Yeah, it's incumbent upon young men and women....in an ideal world. You haven't seen new recruits, have you? Have you seen the broad swathe of people who enter the military at the age of 17, 18 or 19 years old? Sure they should understand the world, and they do at certain levels. You're asking an old man's knowledge be placed in an older teen's body. For some this is their last chance at straightening themselves out, for some its security for their young families, some are forced in, some join willingly, some dream of glory and some just can't wait to get to the weapons. For some, too, is the best chance for an education because they screwed around too much in school and colleges don't want to have anything to do with kids who didn't do well in high school.

Who is it that is born with advanced intellect? What manner of child is this? One who carries your philosophy? Jeff, you've judged and convicted before you even knew them! That surprises me of you.

You have an anti-war position, so do I. In fact, I'm not sure I know of any pro-war people. No doubt they exist, but not in my circle.

I don't know Travis or Victor. Who are they?

I support all of our troops. That's an awkward statement. Better, I would like to support all of our troops but am unable to express that support.

So, I joined Travis and Victor's Facebook pages and leave them comments from time to time designed to show my never ending thanks for their efforts so that they have one more American citizen in their basket of connections.

I said elsewhere this.

How do you support the troops? Send them mittens? Long Johns? Penthouse? I have enough trouble paying my own bills. The US government doesn't even support our troops. They pay them a paltry sum to do their devious deeds with no questions asked and then send them on home with serious illness and disabilities and forget about them completely leaving them homeless on the street. I do more than that with my thoughts alone. And my anti-war position provides them with all of the support that will ever be necessary.

Cathi, I would never get mad at you. Intellect allows for varying and diametrically opposed opinions among friends. Friendship supersedes opinion.

Peace

Jeff, you can't blame those who deploy. They are fed a constant stream of crap and many, just as this one, feel they are going to defend freedom and to follow the oath they have given their country. This one looks young. What do most young soldiers know of oil wars? Or of the duplicity of our government? Most follow an ideal, some follow ideals of their fathers and/or grandfathers.

Some actually deploy and do good deeds. I can site the good from Pedros, medics, Major Mark Bieger from the Deuce Four, Staff Sergeant Olaf Schmid of the Royal Logistic Corps, LTC James Crider, the battalion commander of 1-4 Cav and his men, and Spec. Johnathan Bryan Chism of the 2nd Battalion, 377 Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th infantry Division. And more, my friend.

I realize you and I have a different view on this and if I continue it will just get you angry with me, and I wouldn't like that at all.

I support Victor Agusto and Travis Bishop, two soldiers that had the courage to take a stand and refuse orders to deploy to an illegal war and face the resulting jail time. That takes courage. They're great men.

The soldier above, per our conversation might be a great man, but in the context of general greatness he may not be. He deployed.

LOL Love your comment, Yahya, about the top being picked specifically because they are emotionally retarded or just pure evil! Spot on!

I realize the government will never feel ashamed. Spitting into the wind was my view of it. It's useless. I'm not in full agreement that this young man is a great man. He spoke out and from what I've seen, this video has been carefully crafted to tug at the heart strings.

Keeping that in mind, US envoy Matthew Hoh also spoke out. Here is someone who has some clout, who was able to put a public face on his words, who got national, and international, attention, and now where is he? I've no doubt he is still speaking out but as usual, ya don't hear a word unless you hunt him down! Funny that, huh?

Now, while Mike Prysner has the backing of the IVAW, how far has the IVAW gotten? As dear Jeff has already said, it's all just so very sad...
