Should people who are tired of paying extra fees be allowed to close their bank accounts in protest? One Bank of America official reportedly doesn't think so.
According to Addicting Info, two women involved with the Occupy Santa Cruz movement in California walked into a Bank of America branch earlier this week and attempted to close their bank accounts. In response, the bank manager threatened to lock the doors and call the police on them. Her reasoning? You can't be a customer and a protester at the same time, the manager said.
Comment
I can certainly see where the Bank Manager was concerned with the girl with the sign coming into the Bank, but threatening to call the police was uncalled for. Remove the sign - yes, but ANYONE can close their bank account if they so choose to do so. The Bank Manager was certainly scared the the protest was coming into her Branch to do damage or disrupt their daily routien. Any Branch would probably hire security for a situation - this branch had none. They were all scared of a robbery - then why stay open with NO SECURITY? Doesn't make sense to me at all. And in the middle of a Protest.
I saw men and women older than my own Mother in amounst the protestors. And the Bank still stayed open. They must be totally stupid. Not saying that Seniors' are a threat - but it just shows how stupid some Branch Managers are!!!
Oh I would phone a civil rights legal eagle in a skinny minute!
And the Cops did just what they were told to do..regardless!
I think we should, some how,let their children know what their parents really do for a living.
