Another World

Each night that I collapse on my bed
A separate existence enters my head
Far away from the disappointment and dread
A misty world where no tears are shed,

Another life where I share with others
Mystical spirits and crystalline mothers
Talking with my celestial brothers
Where I'll be entertained but never smothered,

Like a parallel universe where I can escape
Like a shadow on a lunar landscape
Without being betrayed by victims of rape
Like peeling the skin off a grape,

Another world where I can forget
The problems of which I've been beset
Where I can chase the flesh with no regret
Encountering beautiful smiles I've never met,

Oh tell me now mystical ruler of the night
Where do you go at dawn's early light
A place you can give up without a fight?
A trick I must learn with all my might,

Giving up those I love without being sad
Even though I realize they've all gone mad
They were once all that I had
Inside the dream world it doesn't seem so bad,

Far away from failures and abandonment
It seems this misty world is heaven sent
No need to worry about paying the rent
Being treated here like I'm a decent gent,

When suddenly the time warp withdraws
I'm ripped from paradise by unknown claws

Happiness has been snatched from open jaws
I'm back again susceptible to their laws.
