As you Star Into a Mirror

Life is like a journey behind a setting sun
Living like a fugitive always on the run
A mixture of sadness and rare moments of fun
And when you get to the end you might find you've come undone
Climbing a ladder as you wonder why you're here
The illusion of life as you stare into a mirror
Wondering about this isolation when you try to smile
Just the random effects of your exile
The jagged horizon seems just another mile
As you look on from a deserted isle,
Long gone memories last for years
Simply sentimental moments got to wipe away those tears
Shuffling your feet as the end grows near
Those wrinkles on your face from living too close to fear,
Impressions from the shadows of midnight
Take care they’re only fancies of flight
Try to jettison fate with all your might
Blinded by gazing too long into the sacred light,
Climbing a ladder as you wonder why you're here
The illusion of life as you stare into a mirror,
Chasing childhood reflections in the spirit dance
Wondering if there was ever a realistic chance
Save for the blood from a toxic romance
While the forces of darkness make their nocturnal advance,
A requiem for the downtrodden with a tired sigh
Up against an indifferent world that refuses to comply
It’s a time of reflection a time of no reply
While the clueless are simply passersby,
Climbing a ladder as you wonder why you're here
The illusion of life as you stare into a mirror.
