At Destiny’s Gate
Lost here somewhere on memory lane
Thinking of all those I’ve met who were insane
Too many self-destructing in the fast lane
Wondering if my life was a loss or a gain,
It’s a long haul down recollection road
Carrying this heavy load
Seems more like confusion ala mode
Just have to decipher that sacred code,
Seems that the water is icy cold
Where lives are bought and sold
And with all that misery untold
Time to break that duplicitous mold,
I wonder if there’s anybody here
Seems society’s thinking isn’t clear
It’s always the noble ones they want to smear
It’s the savages who never shed a tear,
Now I can hear that mournful sound
Of dripping blood and boots on the ground
They’ve managed to release hell’s hounds
It seems that the evil abounds.
Should be hard for you to look in the mirror
As all the destruction becomes a little clearer
Before she left you you should have been near her
You’re without a paddle in a rushing river,
Walking this thin line of fate
Wondering if you can even relate
In an era where you can’t even trust your mate
Wondering how you faltered at destiny’s gate.
