At The hands of my Own Crew
I want to thank you for letting me down a bit too hard
So I wouldn't be under the illusion I was your guard
Forgive me if my spirit seems a little too marred
These feelings just can't be left in a jar,
The first time I saw you I thought that I knew
The person that was actually you
I found out very quickly just who was who
You put a dagger in my life at the drop of a shoe,
That left me contemplating just what to do
Weighing my options now and they are very few
I'm afraid one and one in this world won't equal two
I've turned the other cheek now and don't like the view,
My life enters another chapter now drained dry
And it surely doesn't involve getting high
Keeping a constant eye out for those who are sly
Some days I smile when I just want to cry,
There's nobody here for me not even family
My roots are dying now just like a tree
Like driftwood floating out to the sea
My biggest mistake was asking you to touch me,
You had me do everything you couldn't do
I was a puppet taming the shrew
Working toward a future that I never knew
I suffered mutiny at the hands of my own crew.
