I've just returned to the UK after a 2 week visit to Ireland. While I was there I bought an item of clothing from a well known retailer. Now, its worth remembering that this particular retailer has never ever sent me email, spam or otherwise. In fact, they don't even advertise much on the internet. Yet, two days after my purchase and return to the UK, I get a promo email from them? I didn't sign anything, but paid by card.
If we do NOT want to be complicit in our own servitude, we MUST not indoctrinate ourselves into it. Pay all bills and purchases with "cash only". Cancel all Direct Debits immediately, resist shopping online and retail loyalty schemes.

If you must use digital, get a pre-paid Visa, MasterCard or American Express gift card. This is not the same as a pre-paid debit card issued through a bank. The gift card does not require verification through a bank.
