Where are you my invisible son?

You were once smiling and now you are done,

I’d bring you back if only I could

But the sea is vast and you are now driftwood,

The world now seems empty and so much colder

You should have lived to be so much older,

Those ashes that are now all that’s left of you

Though I can still see your eyes of blue,

How did this nightmare envelop our lives?

If only I could find you-where would I drive?

A powerful young man with a baby’s heart

A loss that can tear a family apart,

Where are you my invisible son?

You were once smiling and now you are done,

I will never forget as I call out your name

The little boy I once loved now I’ll never be the same,

If only you could have waited a while

But you faded into eternity without one last smile.

cheeki kea Thanks Honey. It happened less than 2 weeks ago and it really hit my family hard. Sadly, we can't control who is taken and when they deserve to be. He was way to young, a former football player with the heart of a baby. Wouldn't hurt a fly. That's what was so terrible about it all.

Diana that's too bad you lost your child. It happens so unexpectedly and it reminds us just how precious life is and how easily lost. Bless you.

I lost my daughter, so I understand the unbearable pain.  It is absolutely the most devastating experience life has to offer and it changes you forever.  I break down in tears when I hear "Tears In Heaven", the song Eric Clapton wrote about losing his son Conor.  But I find it therapeutic to release some of the pain upon occasion.  Just know that many others carry this pain and they do understand that there is nothing that can "fix" it.

Wow, this is a very touching poem Doc V. It's the type of verse that can bring a tear to the eye of the reader. I have to say these days there's little that brings a tear to my eye, but sometimes one creeps through. Something that reminds us we are still human. Thank you.
