Very well said Tara. The intent and purpose of the ancient celebration has taken the other side of the fork in the road.
There's nothing Christ-like about X-mas, especially when it has become a buy buy buy... consumption hell hole. But yet... Santa keeps on a ho, ho, ho-ing ;)
If only most Christians knew they were really celebrating Saturnalia... a paganistic festival. We have been lied to from the cradle to the grave so why would anyone think that religion is immune from it all?
I don't want to begrudge anyone of celebrating whatever you celebrate this time of year, but remember what is most important... keeping the spirit of goodness alive in your words and deeds and try to be a little bit better than you were yesterday... "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"
Love one another and that love will come back to you :)
Ahh, I see. Well, carry on then :)
Yes, I know. and I was agreeing with you.
When did I say I 'believed'?
You are aware that a ;) denotes sarcasm, yes?
Ha ha. Nathan. I just read and interpret. The paradox: If you are to believe the Bible, then 3 wise men (Magi) saved the "baby Jesus" and the wise men were in fact - sorcerers. Thus - Christianity owes its history to pagan witches.
party pooper ;)
