Five years ago, President Barack Obama delivered an unapologetic defense of his belief in climate change. He, as if commanding armies, spoke of his desire to formally secure an agreement between many nations to set a course of remedy. "You would not be here unless you – like me – were convinced that this danger is real. This is not fiction, this is science", said Obama. The Copenhagen Conference of 2009 proved to be an inexhaustible failure for the US President. A failure because he could not convince the American public or foreign nations to become completely immersed into the climate change faith. Inexhaustible, because like every B-grade horror film ever created, the mischief maker returns. On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, the President will address the United Nations and plea to the world's despots to join in him in the fight to "save the world". Unfortunately, the ending of this movie has real consequences for the poor in Urban America and around the world.
What a man believes, he is. So, too, a nation is defined. We establish that mankind suffers from two ills that make us decidedly disadvantaged. They are ignorance and lack. To not shroud us with ignorance, let us look at the boundaries of our terms. The comprised intellectuals at the United Nations believe that the world's two biggest issues are not war and peace but climate change and global warming. Climate change is a long-term change in the earth's climate, especially a change due to an increase in the average atmospheric temperature. Global warming is an increase in the average temperature worldwide believed to be caused by the greenhouse effect. There are two basic strategies offered to deal with issues of catastrophic proportion: environmentalism and stewardship conservation. Environmentalism is advocacy of the preservation or improvement of the natural environment, especially the social and political movement to control environmental pollution. Other specific goals of environmentalism include control of human population growth, conservation of natural resources, restriction of the negative effects of modern technology, and the adoption of environmentally benign forms of political and economic organization. Stewardship is the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care. The Cornwall Alliance beleves that trust was not a deposit of the UN but of God. Conservation is the protection of animals, plants, and natural resources; the careful use of natural resources (such as plants, animals, oil, etc.) to prevent them from being lost or wasted. Environmentalism is built upon the fear of man. Stewardship is founded upon the reverence for God. While I do not believe that the issues are as significant as war and peace, how we respond to those that wish to manipulate the thoughts and actions of men is paramount.
While many of us lean upon the most translated book ever inspired--the Bible, I call upon Don Quixote, deemed by Norwegian Nobel Institute as the second greatest book ever written, as a reference for my defense of stewardship and refutation of environmentalism. In this world renown tale, Quixote loses his sanity due to his insatiable reading of chivalry narratives.
"What giants?" asked Sancho Panza.
"Those you see over there," replied his master, "with their long arms. Some of them have arms well nigh two leagues in length."
"Take care, sir," cried Sancho. "Those over there are not giants but windmills. Those things that seem to be their arms are sails which, when they are whirled around by the wind, turn the millstone."
Lost in his madness, the Gentleman of La Mancha and, trusty sidekick, Sancha Ponza sally forth challenging the reality of windmills that are perceived as giants. If you read enough of Al Gore then, you, too, will sally forth to challenge the reality of stewardship and energy conservation with a climate change agenda lance.
The World Economic Forum encourages businesses, governments and civil society commit to building sustained economic growth, mitigating global risks, promoting health for all, improving social welfare and fostering environmental sustainability. Yet, they tilt at windmills. The poor are not poor because they have too much and must, punitively, loose what they already lack. The poor, in America and around the world, are poor because they lack at all. Forcing "Green Energy" Initiatives unto the poor and elderly and increasing their heating and cooling costs will not make them richer or significantly expand their resources. Taking fossil fuels from impoverished Third World nations will neither endear them to environmental zealots or increase their wellness outcomes. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) portends that "Small changes in the average temperature of the planet can translate to large and potentially dangerous shifts in climate and weather". The Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation rightly asserts, "Empirical studies indicate that natural cycles outweigh human influences in producing the cycles of global warming and cooling, not only in the distant past but also recently." The real war on the environment is by those that seek to orchestrate collective solutions from ivory towers and enforce their will politically, economically and militarily. It is the free will and free markets that must be encouraged to maintain the peace upon the environment and spur economic growth that uplifts all men. Healing the ills of ignorance and lack requires more than a strong arm dictate from the UN.
It is conservation and stewardship, not environmental ultimatums, that will secure nature's abundant and replenishing resources for those that suffer the inequalities of energy dispensation. It would be a sincere failure of Our Faith if we cede our ordained role of stewards of creation to environmental extremists that seek not to remedy mistakes but to rule men. Earth’s temperature has naturally warmed and cooled cyclically throughout time, and warmer periods are typically more conducive to human thriving than colder periods. Yet, there are many that feel the system established by the words of our Creator is so out of whack that only a driven few may design a strategy to redeem the time. The climate change religion is a danger to those that practice it and those for whom it is practiced upon. The sacrificial lamb of this belief need not be those that lack or those that would come to lack as a result of a few seeking to restrict nature and nature's God from mankind. We must resist the United Nations' Climate Change Agenda if we truly wish to empower those that lack to become self-reliant and self-sufficient.
Comment
"This is not fiction, this is science", said Obama. It's science ok, but based on manipulated data. First you have the false science made to feel us guilty for something we didn't do and then there is the huge propaganda machine pointing an accusing finger at us on every possible occasion. Do you think that, if the rulers of the world would be against robbing and enslaving the people because of the man made global warming, there would be any such propaganda? Reducing pollution and protecting the nature are praiseworthy things to do, but enslaving the people under ever expanding debt and taxes based on false accusations is criminal.
