Sad day for all of us who grew up watching Soul train every Saturday morning. Don was the man who started it all. No one" I repeat" no one did more for American Soul, Funk, pop, R&B and so forth than Don. He was the equivalent to Dick Clark when it came to educating the public on the flyest, phattest ,pimp daddy, soul shaken Chinchilla wear-en phat cat m.c. of all time! You can not ever sight a Moore prolific man of pop culture of the last century. Mikel Jackson , made his first big tv appearance with the Jackson five on Soul Train. The immortal Al Green busted out on the train as well as countless others. My sisters and I would tune in and learn the latest dance moves and try to pull them off. I will always hold Soul Train as an American iconic piece of living history. No show since has ever achieved the cultural status or epic entertainment value that Soul Train did with Don Cornelius at the helm. I will get out my best Crunk challis and spill some wine to the ground for my man Don C. ,with honor and respect. Also the commercials were fantastic to. LOVE ,PEACE AND SOUL. R.I.P. never got into disco but when you get grounded on the weekend and the most entertaining thing on tv was Soul Train...lol
I had to dodge the disco. Too much blow. EWF and Rick James got my attention. They made my feet hop on tough days. Thanx, Don Cornelius.
From the local patch, this is so sad:
