worked for a small biz guy doing Computers/Home entertainment/DBS & DSS Satellites/Alarm/Surround snd type stuff & in 2005, I & another were contracted out to do a Wall Mart Superstore. Doing what??...As I was driving there @ 10pm @ night, I still didn't know exactly. Talk about on a need to know basis and why the hell could we only go in after 10pm until 7am for 3 days? Funny thing was that they still didn't want to fully explain what the whole system was, all they wanted us to do was place these units (looked like smoke detectors) according to print, run cat5 to all, to a separate MS NT based security computer. Then just confirm communication, a static IP address for all of them. Fat money too....I was fine w/ the job then, ez money, a no-brainer, but I was curious as to why nobody was explaning exactly wtf these devices were for or did. I FINALLY get a geek on the line because I faux'd a device problem (basically broke one of the sensors by cracking PCB) to see if I could get more info. Thats when this new word was thrown @ me........"RFID"

OK then, I was told these things could track merchandise everywhere in the place, to the exact location where its sitting, descrip,stock,price @ ur fingertips and eventually these rfid things would be in everything and @ homes as well as place of work.
I was freaking out because here I am totally against invasion of privacy and am still soaking in all the 9/11 stuff coming out. I STFU the rest of the time, and worked on like the g00d lil drone........
Guess that was my only experience working w/ big brother and not realizing it until your knee high in chit...and ya didn't bring your waders.....;)

lol Barry....I had to throw in a little humor to the post. Thankfully you can remove the "smart tags" from the clothing but the damn things are still trackable when in your very own garbage. My thoughts are, what information might have been gained from these devices before and after they are safely out of the clothing, thrown in your garbage and later off in some garbage dump somehwhere. I guess the best thing to do is to not shop at Wal-Mart anymore, period.
