The year is 1976 and the Viking 1 and Viking II landers accompanied by orbital satellites with cameras have landed and taken soil samples. A test created by NASA scientist Gil Levin is designed to determine if there are or were organic life forms in the soil. The test turns out positive, but NASA determines that the test somehow malfunctioned. Levin reviews the results and argues to this day that there was no way the test could have failed, either it was positive or negative.

The Face

On that very same mission the Viking orbiter takes a photo of a face in the Cydonia region of the Mars topography appearing like an ancient archaeological work a mile across, but that’s not all. A group of pyramid-like structures in close proximity makes the discovery even more amazing. Once again NASA denies the exciting photo evidence as a trick of shadow and light. NASA refuses to do more studies on the photo and does not commit to taking more photos when the next satellite mission heads for the angry red planet. The media continues to pressure NASA but the denial continues.

Pressing NASA to react

Richard Logan a former NASA scientist who worked on the Mariner Mission preceding the Viking Mission gets involved. Doing a series of 3-D computerized analysis and hiring photographic experts to further study the face on Mars brings even more detail into the photo. They determine that there’s no way that the photo is a trick of optical illusion. Richard Hoagland enlists the help of Art Bell on the Coast to Coast radio show and millions of listeners tune in fascinated by photo and the structures that accompany the face on Mars. Richard Hoagland is able to organize letter writing campaigns and more public pressure to urge NASA to another mission to Mars and photograph the Cydonia region again.

What are they hiding?

NASA’s reply is that a contractor will launch and orbit Mars but to photograph the face again will not be a priority so in 1992 when the Mars Observer is launched and arrives weeks later in orbit around Mars contact is lost with the spacecraft. This is what they say, but in reality they didn’t lose contact, and NASA would never say what the findings on that mission were. Why? Then came the Mars Global Surveyor in 1996 that claims to have photographed the face on Mars again. This time NASA releases a sabotaged photo that experts know the optical data has been intentionally corrupted. The photo is referred to as the “Cat Box” photo as the face is shown collapsed and features appear to be removed with a photo shop type software. Why would NASA be resistant to an open minded approach rather than obstructing or covering up?

More Mars missions

In 2001 Mars Odyssey and Mars Express were launched and successfully orbited Mars taking more surface photos. In 2003 the first 2 rovers “Spirit” and “Opportunity” were successfully launched, orbited, and landed on the planet’s surface. Calls for sending one of the rovers  to Cydonia to get an up close view of the face and also the nearby pyramid structures were denied by NASA saying that this would interrupt the purpose of their missions or add cost and fuel consumption. Subsequent mapping, atmospheric study, and geological analysis missions have been sent to the red planet. Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, Phoenix, Maven, Insight, Marco A, Marco B, Perseverance, and Ingenuity missions have been sent and have taken precise aerial photos that have revealed many puzzling anomalies.

Surface anomalies appearing as artificial structures

Among the unexplained surface structures that many photo analysts hired aby defense contractors to determine artificial from natural have been a 10 mile high monolith, two other smaller monoliths, glass tunnels, a disk shaped structure resembling a flying saucer, and an apparent door cut out of a rock wall leading inside of the formation. There has been a statue-like structure that appears to be a black humanoid figure.

A global tragedy but how?

Most scientists believe that Mars, at one time, was a blue planet like earth with a dense atmosphere and large oceanic regions, but something happened that devastated Mars and apparently killed all life forms on the surface. There are mixed theories from a collision with another rogue planet, a massive asteroid hit, a near collision by a larger celestial body whose powerful gravity stripped the atmosphere and oceans from the surface, but former NASA physicist, John Brandenburg, thinks he has the answer with good evidence to prove it.

Mars nuked?

There is a radioactive isotope produced by nuclear explosions Xenon 129 that is released and deposited in the upper soil of the planet. On Mars the rovers took soil samples and while large amounts of iron oxide were anticipated scientists were surprised to find large amounts of Xenon 129. On earth there have been 1000 nuclear detonations since the test ban treaties were put into place, but Mars has 2 and a half times more Xenon 129 present than earth. This event took place 300 million years ago! Brandenburg theorizes that an all-out nuclear war occurred and wiped out the planet’s seas and atmosphere, but it gets stranger.

Gigantic nuclear bombs?

There are two regions on the planet where concentrations of Xenon 129 are so much greater that these may be ground zero detonation sites. The bombs would make even the biggest nuclear devices ever exploded on earth seem tiny. One of the Martian nuke sites would have been blasted by a device the size of the Empire State building! This according to the estimated volume of fissionable material it would have taken to leave this much Xenon 129 still present after this great expanse of time.

Who, what, where, and when?

Now, taking into consideration what we know. The face on Mars and its pyramid-like structures appear to be the technical equivalent of the Egyptian Pharaohs, so if the bombs were detonated at that time then who had the technology to blast Mars with that kind of power? Either there was a nuclear exchange far exceeding earth’s present day stock piles by nations of the world, or somebody from a very advanced civilization decided Mars needs to be obliterated! Luckily 300 million years ago only reptiles inhabited earth and we were ignored. Question is, whoever nuked Mars might come back if earth looks like a bad neighbor that will have a negative effect on our galaxy? Who 300 million years ago left a nuclear calling card with a capability that exceeds the nations of the world today or did some Martians manage to escape and colonize earth. Are we, unbeknownst to ourselves, Martian survivors?
