Most of us are aware of many things in life that can kill us. We generally take steps to avoid such threats, and with the recent revelation from Michael Hayden the former head of the CIA and NSA, there are now new dangers we must consider to keep safe and secure.

Metadata

I'm sure most of us don't have to be worried about drone strikes raining down on us because of our metadata...yet. However, it is important to consider the role of metadata in anonymity. Our metadata not only includes our phone records and web browsing habits, it also includes the data we store and possibly share online.

In previous articles, I've discussed the need for anonymity online and while using your mobile phone, so today let's talk about our files and metadata. Metadata is generally embedded within our files and gives information about the file (author, date created, etc.)
