I must Listen to You

I never could have guessed it when I was a lad

That the future was headed for a world gone mad

No wonder that at times I find myself quite sad

The love of a woman is all I ever had,

The world turns on its axis everyday

Lonely men grieve and spouses stray

Distant sound of gunfire can be heard a mile away

Still I begged a promiscuous love to stay,

War has become a sophisticated way to wipe out the human race

Forgive me for having such realizations in this time and space

If you don’t mind, please take my remains to a sacred place

The dictator’s mistress will always be adorned in lace,

Please overlook my disdain for the global class

Haven’t they done enough killing aw but alas,

Still there will be the sheep making up the masses

I’m assured by my creator peace will prevail when all this passes,

Still, all I am is a mortal man doing whatever I can

I wasn’t there for the unveiling of the master plan

Lord, there’s only so much I can understand

Look to the heavens for the signs ignore the frailty of man,

I believe I was weak from the start

Victimized by the matters of the unfaithful hearts

Learning from my mother and father I thought I was smart

In the midst of a plague I load the dead in ox carts,

But here in the midst of a luminescent view

The truth cannot be denied it pierces right through

Despite the evil in this world gone askew

Lord, I must filter out the noise and listen to you.
