Over a Frozen Sea
Where has love taken me?
Through an illusion where I could be free?
To care for those who no longer care for me?
The emptiness of sailing over a frozen sea,
Where has love taken me?
Persistent yet painful memories
The unheard plea
For you not to leave me,
Sometimes feeling so lost
Alone on a stormy sea being tossed
An old grave stone gathering moss
I fear there's a boundary I shouldn't have crossed,
Children who should have known better
She left me but should I have let her?
Love, such an easily broken tether
Perhaps if I had met some girl named Heather,
The time machine that doesn't exist for me
Won't give me the chance to flee
Lord I beg you on bended knee
Must be a way to end this insanity,
Love, a consuming fire that doesn't forgive
After losing it many don't want to live
The pain of loss leaves me reflective
Despite the pain thankfully I'm not vindictive,
Love is a baby turtle's rush to the sea
Before being snatched up helplessly
Nature is savage without mercy
Devouring the tender heart seeking to be free.
