The DSM-5 addresses the idea of active participation as a cause of trauma under the discussion accompanying its definition of PTSD, and adds to the list of causal factors: “for military personnel, being a perpetrator, witnessing atrocities, or killing the enemy.”
There has been some study with combat veterans,[1][2][3][4][5] people who carry out executions or torture, police who shoot in the line of duty, people who commit criminal homicide, abortion staff, and others.[1]

Good post JR with some good links. Particularly enlightening was the link to moral injury, gives one point to wonder whether brain disorders such as echophenomena or echopraxia result from this from this type of trauma. A friend told me he was up at the mall last week having lunch with his young son, when the happy meal was finished he blew up the bag and popped it, and 4 people dropped to the floor with their hands over their heads. Others at the food court simply looked round up to see where the big noise had come from, and wondered why they saw all the people on the floor. He made a hasty exit.

@James Roberts. My state legislature passed a heartbeat anti-abortion law limiting abortion after the sixth week. The public was completely in approval of the law and it was passed with overwhelming support.
Sadly and deviously a Federal Obama appointee judge swooped in to block the legislation on the grounds that it is still legal at the Federal level so it has to go through the Supreme Court. So who makes up the Supreme Court?
