Reflexions of a Shadow-dance.

For her, the mirror was always there, if nothing else.

The shadow danced on the cave-wall, from TV, the news and reflexions. It was all there was.

The police state is not a mystery, or a mysterious entity.
It does not exist to manage resource utilization or further development, for starters.
The police state was created to destroy enemies, remove threats and steal anything useful to it's purposes.
Stealing usually becomes it's prime objective, methodology and purpose in life. Authoritarian states are like that. (We call them 'The secret-policeman's ball.' Like the mafia, they hang about in dark corners and look for troubles to cash in on. Both being cannibals, there are other similarities, too.) Honesty, hard work, brilliance are all non-starters. Bread and circuses it can control; and does understand.

Does your culture/society/urbanization support this, or has it gone over to the dark side of being a full-time destroyer? No? Then it is not your response. Ask the 1% nobles-cult to do it.

He came into view and instinct kicked in. He responded to *THESE* Not *those*. Character shifted, the game started anew. An adaptive posie-dance began again. He *would* respond to her. She had shifted to meet him. Attitude, personality and character. He was weak and knew only shadows.

Rats have the freedom to flee sinking ships, liberty to do so at certain times, are privileged in that they can weasel thru cracks a envelope would have trouble with.... But other than a Darwinian prerogative, cannot demand the ship stop and let them off.
The human rat race is worse. Rats don't rat on rats.
