COPENHAGEN - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev left the deadlocked UN climate summit on Friday in order to make a scheduled visit to Kazakhstan, a Kremlin spokeswoman told AFP.

Medvedev had been one of around two dozen key leaders who were closeted in Copenhagen's Bella Center on Friday, striving to break a logjam at the UN talks on global warming.

"He has left, as he is expected in Almaty tomorrow for a meeting with his colleagues from the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO)," a grouping of former Soviet states, said the spokeswoman Natalia Timakova.

"His climate advisor is remaining and he has all the necessary powers" of negotiation, the spokeswoman added.

Climate talks battle to save deal
Delegates at the climate summit are battling to prevent the talks ending without reaching a final deal.
Earlier, a US-led group of five nations - including China - tabled a last-minute proposal that President Barack Obama called a "meaningful agreement".
However, it was rejected by a few developing nations who felt it failed to deliver the actions needed to halt dangerous climate change.
But the majority of nations are urging the Danish hosts to adopt the deal.
To be accepted as an official UN agreement, the deal needs to be endorsed by all 193 nations at the talks.

Great post is right !!! Amen to that.. The real headline that should of happened is this ...
Snopenhagen summit has ended with no formal agreement with the worlds countries. These countries leaders all saw a "real" snow job coming and decided to get out of there before the snow started to fall for the Lords birth. Satan saw that there was no competition in pulling the preverbial snow job on Gods creation,

so God decided to show him what a snow job really means as His birthday present to all of us with the heaviest of snow fall on the District of Columbia, the origin of the biggest verbage snow job in the written history of man. The decievers wanted to start a contest with Creator God? Big mistake, we may see the coldest winter of the 21stcentury now. At least it will be living proof to the make-believe scientists about creation and evolution. The sad but funny thing about it is, they still wont get it, lol.

Good news, Copenhagen summit ends achieving nothing

The Copenhagen summit on Climate Change closes today with absolutely nothing to show for two weeks of sturm und drang. This is good news for people everywhere and especially for developed countries such as the United States.

Copenhagen began with great expectations and degenerated into finger pointing and acrimony. The final result, a document littered with “should” and “ought” with nothing specific other that a call for a “binding” agreement sometime in the future.

Even the last minute appearance of a chartered Boeing 757 carrying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and 25 members of Congress couldn't get the job done. President Obama's lackluster speech to the conference didn't help things along at all.

The conferees couldn't even come up with a deadline for future action. 2010 was supposed to be the year to create a “binding” agreement for all nations. This deadline has now gone by the wayside.

And well it should. More and more the science behind anthropogenic global warming is showing itself to be nonsense. The Daily Express listed 100 reasons why climate change is natural. Here is just a sampling”

“4) After World War II, there was a huge surge in recorded CO2 emissions but global temperatures fell for four decades after 1940.

“38) The world “warmed” by 0.07 +/- 0.07 degrees C from 1999 to 2008, not the 0.20 degrees C expected by the IPCC

“83) The “Climate-gate” scandal revealed that a scientific team had tampered with their own data so as to conceal inconsistencies and errors.”

Together, numbers 4 and 38, quoted above, are sufficient to falsify the global warming theory. (It only takes one fact to invalidate a scientific theory, and there are two of them staring you in the face.) Number 83, also quoted above, explains why this nonscience persists.

Nobody knows for certain what drives climate change. We do know that the climate has changed repeatedly in the past. We do know that climate change is the norm for the planet – the climate is always changing. There is no good reason to believe that human caused emissions are affecting this process to any substantial degree.

So it is good news that the Copenhagen summit collapsed. We won't be forced into enduring economy destroying measures such as Cap and Trade which will accomplish nothing other than reducing your income and further restricting your lifestyle and choices. At least not for now.

Breaking news: India, China walk out of climate summit: Report

PTI

India and China have taken a united stand and walked out of the climate summit as Copenhagen talks fail.

Tensions prevailed at the climate talks at Copenhagen today, as Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh and China premier Wen Jiabao walked out of the summit along with their respective delegations, as talks failed.

The principle of common but differentiated responsibility must be adhered to and developed countries must honour their commitments, Chinese premier Wen Jiabao said at the climate meet.

He also said that China takes the issue of climate change "very seriously", and regards it as an important strategic task. He vowed that China will not only achieve but exceed its voluntary climate action targets.

US president Barack Obama says at the Copenhagen meet, "It is in our mutual interest to achieve a global climate accord. There is no time to waste, we should act, not talk."

Obama said he was all for a mechanism to monitor emission reduction actions, exchange of information and transparency. He added that this should not be intrusive or impinge upon sovereignty.

Obama said finance to developing nations is a must, and referred to America's pledge to raise USD100 billion by 2020, but he asserted that it will be done "only if" it is part of a broader accord. "Mitigation, transparency, finance – it is a clear format," he concluded.

Prime minister Manmohan Singh in his speech said, "Parties to Kyoto Protocol should deliver on their commitments for emission cuts." He added, "India has vital stake in the success of negotiations, as we are likely to be among the most affected by climate change."

The prime minister promised that India will deliver on its voluntary target of reducing the emission intensity of GDP growth by around 20% by 2020, as compared to 2005, regardless of the outcome of the Copenhagen Conference.

"We can do even more if a supporting global climate regime is in place," he said.

He concluded, "We have a difficult task ahead of us. I hope we will play a positive and constructive role so that we bridge our differences and come out with a balanced and an equitable outcome in the coming years. India will not be found wanting in this."
