WASHINGTON DC - USA - Just like George W Bush, who had a massive poll boost after 911 and a free ticket to invade oil rich Iraq, so too does President Barack Obama need a sense of crisis to put through his expensive healthcare plans.
Facing polls showing a drop in his approval, diminished support from independents, factions within his Democratic Party and a united Republican opposition, Obama must recapture the sense of urgency that led to passage of the economic rescue farce in February, analysts say.
"The boy needs his own September 11, he needs another major crisis so that the people can get back into their patriotic frenzy like after 911 happened, we’re not in a healthcare crisis and that is the goddamn problem right now,
we need to either engineer a crisis like they did for 911 or wait until one develops later” said Bruce Banner, a professor of government at Arkansatown University in Washington.
“You do need a crisis to generate movement in Congress and to help build fear in the public.”
Obama is too slovenly in his approach and needs to engender a sense of urgency in the public. If Obama wants to bring in massive healthcare changes reminiscent of Britain's NHS, he will need to put the American people on a war footing
similar to World War II or September 11.
Obama Chief of Staff Moshe Rabin
said the administration made unprecedented healthcare progress in eight months but needs to finish the job by creating a major crisis.
‘We need our own Pearl Harbour’
“We gave Congress a charge, we gave them broad outlines, which is the reason we are farther along than any of the five Democrat presidents that have tried,” Rabin said in an interview yesterday. “We’re not there yet, and our plans are to bring forth something this winter that will force the people to take up state healthcare whether they want to or not. The major crisis we could be looking at is an H1N1 breakout on a scale never before seen, hell once that goes off we can add even more lab created goodies to create even more chaos so that we could bring in state healthcare.”
Presidential speeches historically do little to move public opinion significantly, said Freddie Goering, author of “The Strategic Pawn: Persuasion and Opportunity in Controlled Leadership.”
“This is almost like a Hail Mary, because they know that they’re substantially behind and the trajectory is negative for them.
Obama needs a self-made crisis like Bush had with 911,” Goering said.
Unlike the financial crisis he inherited from the disastrous Bush administration, the healthcare debate is of Obama’s making and places a different burden on him, Goering said.
“The best thing in presidential leadership is to recognize and exploit opportunities and crisis,” said Goering.
“The White House needs to create so much fear and terror in the public that they will have no choice but to accept state healthcare. It worked for Hitler, Blair and Bush so why not Obama, he needs to learn from these administrations. How to completely control the people through terror and fearmongering. Bush had Fox news pumping out horrific fear inducing stories 24 hours a day, what has Obama got? Nothing! Exactly! He needs to get his terror, fear inducing plan and stick to it.
