Setting Sail for the Sea
Walking down the streets of illusion land
Grasping at straws with both hands
There always seems to be a sinister plan
Lord look down upon thi\s lonely man,
Nothing is as it ever seems
Not even in my deepest dreams
We are all victims of lies and schemes
Sometimes I think I'm coming apart at the seams,
Trying to escape with a drink or two
But I wake up and the world's askew
Oh God, is there anyway I can get through?
What happens now at the drop of a shoe?
A government of liars and thieves
Half of my countrymen still believe
Deception has always been my pet peeve
Evil magician with another trick up his sleeve,
Pondering the existence of a useless life
I stand aghast at the chaos and strife
Living is now being on the edge of a knife
Where did you go my estranged wife?
Abandoned by family and friends
And you ask will it ever end?
Just when you thought things were on the mend
How many post cards from hell can you send?
I grew up knowing what was rightful and true
As I grew up the illusion grew
Truth was only apparent to a very few
Too many sleep walkers who don't have a clue,
Hell on earth and perpetual war
It seems the powers that be want more and more
Oh Lord, what was my purpose for?
I'll never know what fate has in store,
Living now in a menagerie
In the midst of those too foolish to be free
Oh Lord, can you hear my plea?
I'd rather be a Viking setting sail for the sea,
As a child I never knew a world of despair
A place where no one really cares
Love and couples in disrepair
A God forsaken nightmare,
They can cast a shadow even in gloom
They suck the air out of a room
If I could just sweep away evil with a broom
Doctor Jekyll I presume.
