@Hollywood, 12160 is a Ning network. Ning is the host and all its network sites are subject to its TOS (posted at the bottom of every page) and we are limited somewhat by what it provides. Ning claims to have over 2 million networks. There's a lot of good features but nothing is perfect.

@ Suzie, we remove porno promptly so that you don't have to see it, lol. Spam is what you get in your spam folder in your email. It's unsolicited ads to get you to purchase something like Viagra. Another tactic of spammers is to target social network sites. They become members to sell stuff. When we ban a member for spam, Ning does something special with their info:

Suspending a member for spam will automatically send us a report. Spamming is against Ning's Terms of Service, and we investigate all reports of spam on the Ning Platform. 

and that may include reporting them to the FTC.

As for duplicates, James has already explained that it lowers our search engine rankings and this is very important. As I posted below, other sites have these same policies and for the very same reasons. Additionally, there is a collective groan from long-time members and admins when they see a video posted for the umpteenth time. While it may be new to some, if it's been posted here before it's old news. However, as you point out, many are worthy of being featured again. If we had enough admins, or at least a video moderator, we would have the time to feature previously posted videos (without reposting).

If I see a video I like that has already been posted here, I save it to my YouTube account. If I see an article I want to keep that 's already been posted, I bookmark it. What some members don't realize is that any videos they save on their page in MY VIDEOS is also posted onto the main video page. If you want videos on your profile page, embed them in a text box and it will not be posted to the video page.  Searching takes about 5 seconds and we don't feel it's asking too much for members to help keep the site fresh, interesting and at the top of the search engine rankings.

I do know that other sites have strict policies about posting duplicates and new members must promise not to post anything until they've done a thorough search. In fact at some other sites, blogs and videos are not posted until they have been approved by the mods. We've often seen duplicates posted here right after the original and you have two copies of the same post on the SAME PAGE. All it took to avoid this was to just look at the page and maybe scroll back a bit.

i have never seen porno here ..  i have not figured out exactly what spam is.. and who is the FTC  ?  maybe i posted some videos in a "wrong manner"  ME SO SORRY .. like i said my head is THICK as a BRICK..

i am happy to be here and really like what everyone does here but if i have to do a search before i post everything i will probably do much less posting but this is just me..  i been having too much fun here i guess... unless there is a problem i just don't understand i am a BLOCK HEAD sometimes ..ok this makes my head HURT::

don't you think that posted videos get burried after a while? if you post a video that someone else posted a year ago it new again ! kinda ..also how would someone who never saw a video know they like it? you cannot search for a video you don't know the name of? and we all have our own pages and videos we posted .. if i am looking for a video i posted it is easiser to find if i have posted it..  i don't know it doesn't bother me if someone else post a video i have posted especially if i posted it a few months ago ... it new again ..

wouldn't take much to write a script for the video embed code to get checked for dupes in name, size, length, date,location etc....but then again I'm clueless about this ning network and how it works. is this like a site (12160) within a site (ning)?? or is ning just a host and 12160 is separate??..I see Sheriff Mack's site has ning in its domain name. just curious

Also James, have all present members agree to the new TOS (with a lot about posting duplicates and direct them to SITE HELP & TIPS which they must read all How To's before posting). Kill two birds, one stone.
