I just saw the 12th copy of some Alex Jones Video go up. It is a bit frustrating, when a new post, an unique post, are buried by replication.
It also lowers our search engine rankings considerably on sites like google .
I am sure it's also frustrating when a blogger here has the same post followed only hours or even minutes after another.
Your thoughts please.

We're all guilty of this to an extent. I think something that will help is maybe limiting the number of blogs a person can post in a day. Some people post 5,6 even 7 or more blogs in a day and that is too much. They are not being at all selective in their choices and I've noticed that when one does it, others start doing it and people stop commenting. Why comment on a blog that you know is going to be on the front page for just a couple hours? People want to have discussions and they are eager to make a difference and share in the satisfaction of reaching out to others. When people flood the blog forum with postings, we get duplicates and it kills discussion. Probably the thing that annoys me the most is when a good story gets buried because one or two people post 5, 6 blogs each.
Limit the blogs. I only do 2-3 a day, sometimes more if the site is slow and there are good stories that day. But I try to be fair and not be a blog hog.
Start issuing warnings to people about duplicates. We have a search feature, people need to stop being lazy and use it. Some stories are worth repetition to an extent, but that is the exception to the rule. When something like the NDAA passes, a couple duplicates are tolerable. Otherwise, issue one warning, and if someone doesn't get it, then next time they post a duplicate, delete it.
I've noticed too, many of these duplicates are posted while the original post is still on the front page! People are just not paying attention. But again, to be fair, we have all done it, and we're far from a perfect bunch.
@Daniel, a function like that is on our wish list but we can't get that with Ning.
Sorry Daniel, we don't have that.
Isnt there a sort by date function or something.
The duplicates are overwhelming. I've been tempted to just start deleting them but know there would be blowback. We already have guidelines but no one pays any attention to them.
I think you should. I am sorry, sometimes I miss others posts and I would not be upset at all if it was removed.
Can only agree.!
Amy, its really up to us admins to show the members the way, nothing to apologize about.
Thanks for the input DTOM. I hope we get a lot before any decision is made.
