The burqa has been banned in France as of today, April 11, 2011.  What do you think, should non-Muslim countries ban the burqa?

In France, women are now officially banned from wearing full-face veils in public, after a controversial law came into effect. While the government says the move is aimed at helping Muslims adapt to the local community, critics accuse President Sarkozee of persecuting Islam, to win back votes from the right. But in a country with Europe's biggest Muslim population, the law risks igniting social tensions, as Daniel Bushell reports.

The controversial 'burqa law' is set to come into force in France today (April 11). The new law imposes a fine of 150 euros on violators who can also be asked to carry out public service duty as a part of the punishment. France had passed the ban on full face veils last year. As per official estimates about 2000 women wear the veil in France which is home to Europe's largest Muslim population.

Not happy with USA... you've already began dictating covering up the genitals and limiting nude beaches to adults !

In France as in most European nudist beaches, parks, hotels and resorts are family oriented, with children of both genders and all ages growing up naturally mixing up with fully nude adults and teens without any moral, emotional, psychological, physical nor cultural "genital exposure" trauma

Google: Freikörperkultur (FKK), Naturisme, INF-FNI

Every society and its controllers have placed various sartorial or dress codes bans on its populations often quoting moralizing or religious reasons; New York Law grants top freedom to both genders but exposed Navels and Midriffs were and probably still are banned for females on Texas Campuses

I don't think the burqa should be banned in any non-Muslim country. What is so wrong with a religious group exercising their freedom of expression and religion? Nice how they want the Muslim community to adapt to the community in France. More like they want them to conform to the norm, look and act like everybody else so that they do not inflict fear in the public by wearing these evil burqa's. I'm sure the burqa has now been classified as terrorist apparel as well. It's all so ridiculous to me.
