Christmas Day and I'm wishing this time away
Jesus is gone and so is Santa's sleigh
Went by the house where she and I used to stay
And you wonder why I look like I need to pray,
I was lucky I never became a total slave
I swear to you I could have followed her to my grave,
And they say look old boy your time passed by
Forget about tears and looking her in the eye
There's not another Christmas that could bring her her back
That's just the cards you were dealt from the stack,
I was lucky I never became a total slave
I swear to you I could have followed her to my grave,
There was no snow jingle bells or sleigh rides this year
Nothing that could possibly chase away our fears
The president always acts like he's had too many beers
Where is my joy in a land of smoke and mirrors?
Jesus came then he left for home
Why did he leave the devil here to let him roam?
An evil spirit just like a bug on chrome
Just like me I've been left and all my kids are grown,
I was lucky I never became a total slave
I swear to you I could have followed her to my grave,
So many things have happened this year come what may
Where was that miracle to make all of them pay
And after the criminals in government had their day
All I can say is that this is the Christmas that ran away.
