The Grim Little Toast
I used to think that taking love was for free
So I sat in my chair looking out over the sea
I was so unprepared when it called out to me
The love that we had was never meant to be,
You stood in the doorway one wet night
Came into the house without even a fight
Took what was mine with unhindered delight
Then the two of you disappeared from sight,
The moon shimmers now in the absence of the sun
Can’t remember the last time I wasn’t on the run
She’s absent and free isn’t that so much fun?
And you sincerely asked me why I seemed so undone,
The world has taken on such a new dimension
Sadly, it has nothing to do with evil prevention
Fear echoes here but there’s no ascension
I foresee assassination at the next convention,
Now that you’re older you seem like a ghost
Was it what you did to others that hurt you the most?
Let me get a couple glasses for a grim little toast
I’m serving truth on a platter stick around for the roast,
My heart feels so empty of solace or joy
My emotions manipulated like a child’s toy
Bullets fly that miss the decoy
Just one more False Flag for them to deploy,
Just a little more pain in your life to endure
Allowing love in you’re not so sure
The shape of your body a sensual contour
Memories of love become fewer and fewer.
