The Lines on Your Face

From the darkness of my lonely room
Only a taste of life enveloped in gloom
Love as in life never assume
Doctor Jekyl and Mister Hyde I presume,

The wee hours of the darkness
Bring little or no solace
Merely a quiet world in winter solstice
Then I ask has it all come to this?

Corruption disguised in a world of bliss
News reduced to a snake's hiss
Your wife leaves with a poison kiss
All the time unsuspecting it was amiss,

This was all predicted long ago
The blood you spilled the seeds you sow
All come back like deadly ducks in a row
Captain, there's a fire down below!

May not have asked for it but it came
Nothing will ever be the same
All their pathetic excuses lame
There is no decency no shame,

The heroes are now attacked
Normalcy is way off track
A fake president istalled behind your back
No honor left to take up the slack,

That lonely room a tattered oasis
Unable to sleep in listlessness
Chilling realizations from the abyss
When your only friend is loneliness,

What brought the world to such a place?
Evil runs rampant in the human race
Seems it has always been the case
Just as vivid as the lines on your face.
