The Shape of Things to Come
Struggling down the darkened corridors of time
Vaguely remembering when I was in my prime
Never realized how life could be such a steep climb
All for the grandfather’s clock chime,
The deception that has metastasized like cancer
The sheep who could care less about the answers
Washington DC is run by necromancers
Evil has become the ultimate romancer,
Seeking shelter from some deep underground base
Will not save them from the rioting and the mace
Obsessed by the power and flesh chase
Only the All Mighty will make the case,
While most of us will barely hang on
As carts of the dead are horse drawn
Daddy smokes a pipe and waits for the dawn
Ghosts from the past dance upon the lawn,
You can’t imagine the strife that could take place
As it envelops the entire human race
Those in government are such a disgrace
Causing a disturbance in time and space,
The resulting norm will become insanity
Man will never be saved from his own vanity
Even radiation now flows out to the sea
In all this seeming inevitability,
I would like to have offered words of hope
To help guide you down this slippery slope
Instead, in darkness we are all forced to grope
As the hangman fashions his gallows rope.

cheeki kea Thanks for your comment and little bit of rhyme. I do these poems as a kind of release of emotion and stress and then there is my last failed raomance which I guess is all too obvious. So, poetry is a away of purging these thoughts and perceptions. Thank you for your attention, and do we need to forgive the sheep? I'm around them all day long and that is hard thing to do. Take care.

~ So for those of us who know what's to come, hear the beat of the danger drum, increase in volume a distressing sound, come into our lives- us once frowned upon. We know it's our place to serve in Gods grace- for the woe of those who indeed believed, all the lies they did receive, who suffer in pain and misery, knowing now they were deceived. Do we pray to God to lift our hearts, to look beyond the recent past, to forgive the sheep in their delusion, understand the mental confusion, and open our hearts in loving union? In our minds I guess we know what to do but would love to hear from a writers view.
