The answer is neither are wrong. I guessing both outfits know the truth but spin it up so that further down track it can be unravelled to support a bigger cause. Actually one only needs to check out what the anti-fur movement knew back in 2015 when protests erupted and fur selling shops like Macys got stormed in the USA and fur protests happened in Europe outside the Chinese embassy regarding the cruelty  of racoon dogs for it's fur trade and experiments. I've mentioned before that med pages freely available to the public published the very findings of their enhanced coronavirus creations from racoon dogs so proud that they were. They could have been doing this since 2009 and perhaps even got grants from big players to perfect their success to one of excellence in the gain of function stakes. I wonder if china is going to be left holding the bag when the times right. Perhaps findings from the past will miraculously come to light at a suitable time just as world-wide anger starts to boil.
