In 1896 to 1897 the US was subjected to a wave of sightings that many UFOlogists call “Flaps” which are a large number of sightings that happen in several different regions over short period of time. One might recall the events at Aurora, Texas in which an unknown object crashed on a farm, a woodbine was struck scattering its debris over an acre area and a small humanoid being was pronounced dead at the seen by a US Army Cavalry officer and doctor. Mystery Airships predating dirigibles, blimps, and zeppelins, were sighted all over the US from the west coast to the Gulf region and all the way to the eastern seaboard. Even though “Ghost ships” or “Phantom ships” as they were described were seen during President Lincoln’s time when they were even called “Flying Cigars” still the answers were never attained as to who or what was behind these sightings. The incident was covered in a local newspaper story.

Who has a clue?

According to John Keel author of “The Mothman Prophecies, “Strange Creatures from Time and Space”, and “Jadoo” he was convinced that the UFO phenomenon, apparitions, fairies, elementals, and demons were all from the same source. He advocated that what seemed to be “Mystery Airship” pilots wearing overalls and appearing at wells for water for their steam engines would merely become the little Gray aliens who would later be abducting people by the 1970’s constantly changing their appearance to adjust to the latest human paradigm of technology! Keel’s staff of researchers uncovered newspaper articles written during the time of the “Old West” talking about iron hooks being dropped from the sky and dragged along the ground in the center of the town’s main street. A baptism held during a riverside service at night was interrupted by a blazing light from an object from the darkened sky depicted in a newspaper story!

One possible explanation

According to Captain Edward Ruppelt, the first Director of Project Bluebook, he interviewed an elderly former newspaper reporter who had told him that the “Airship Mystery” had stirred up just as much controversy and speculation as the modern day UFO sightings of the early 1950’s. So, if it’s not the “Men in Black” whom the US Air Force released bulletins about, today we have those finding evidence of time travelers now that we have new astrophysical calculations that can provide for such theoretical possibilities where time can be reversed or nonlinearly experienced!  

War time intruders?

The year is 1944 in the midst of World War II. The US Military is fighting a global conflict in two separate oceanic theaters of war, the Pacific and the Atlantic, the Island hopping campaign all the way to Japan, while the European theater pushes to enter the heart of Germany to stop the Nazis. Once again, man is faced with not only the horrors of life and death battles, but of unearthly, and unknown, flying vessels that defy any known wartime aircraft! Not only the allies by the Axis forces think that the “Foo Fighters” as was the nickname given, thought that each foe had developed top secret airborne machines. One B-17 Bomber crew exiting Germany after a mission were scared into hysterics when their aircraft was paced by the glowing spherical appearance of a “Foo Fighter”. Luckily for them, they did survive to return safely!

More UAP milestones

It was General Douglas MacArthur who would form the “Interplanetary Phenomenon Group”. As aerial armadas were spotted in the midst of intense naval battles in the Pacific flying serenely above bloody fighting in the air and sea below, intelligence analysts were anxious to know who or what was behind them! Not long after the war came the Kenneth Arnold sighting in the state of Washington near Mt. Rainier of 9 silvery objects traveling at an estimated 1200 mph in 1947. In that year came the Roswell Incident along with the death of Captain Mantell in pursuit of a high altitude UFO in his P-51 Mustang ending in a crash a year later near Godman Airfield!

Incursions by the unknown continue

When General Nathan F. Twining acknowledge in his intelligence estimate that UFO’s were real, not imaginary, and outflew the latest generation of US fighter planes, this was the first official yet classified documentation that revealed the US military was genuinely concerned about who or what the unknown aerial phenomenon was. Great efforts have been made to hide or discredit these official reports, but never the less, the content speaks for itself. However, it wouldn’t be long before the irrefutable presence would make itself felt across the entire continental US!

USAF Officers in the thick of the dilemma

Best depicted in the Captain Edward Ruppelt’s book entitled “The Report on UFO’s” circa 1956 he describes in detail how the US Air Force is literally overwhelmed by numerous UFO reports coming in from all over the US. With upper brass convinced the UFO’s were real but unofficially denying their existence to the American public, the schism continued unabated even when national newspapers released stories of attempted UFO intercepts went unsuccessful over White House air space! Even President Harry S. Truman was forced to make a public statement after demanding what was going on with his Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon! One would really like to have in their possession the debriefing of F-86 pilot Lieutenant William Patterson after his brush with being surrounded by UFO’s that were closing in on his aircraft as radar operators helplessly watched. Lucky for him, he lived to tell about it! This would be the watermark for the long legacy of the UFO and the struggle by authorities to prevent panic over the true source behind the mystery.

In all of these three historically documented “Flaps” we have seen how a persistent contradiction to human logic, human understanding of technology, astrophysical principles, along with the government suppression of the truth from the general public as well as personnel of its own, has created a long standing “Truth Embargo” as described by Doctor Steven Greer. The truth is not only out there, but it is hidden from those who are reaching for it!
