We allow our ignorance to prevail upon us and make us think we can survive alone, alone in patches, alone in groups, alone in races, even alone in genders.
           -Maya Angelou

Not to asphyxiate this post with quotes but, the German poet Johann Wolfgang Van Goethe once stated, "The soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone." As I walk upon the intransigent path that is the truth movement, prone to a pedantic and rancorous observation of the world I survey, the chase for cogency becomes a lonely one. One can not digest the fact that man or woman can give their lives to administering a cosmic panacea to cure the ills of the world we inhabit. The fight that I struggle to sustain is not one that I chose; it chose me! It procures my soul and satiates me to the point where I can live off justice as my only source of nutrition; it may sound hyperbolic or superfluous, but its true.

(1) I grew in the various places, never being able to call a place home. The way I talk, and the way I write is a product of who and what I was around. (2) I do not like to portray an image as a magniloquent soothsayer who's diction cannot be comprehended. ( 3) When I had to read Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston in school--one with a southern dialect, another with the slick Harlem vernacular--I understood Hughes more because that is how we spoke in my house. (4) Since 6th grade I have been accused of being a dictionary writer, go figure, its a crime for a person to articulate themselves in any manner, much less one that people can't understand. (5) I know plenty of autodidacts who have learned  to interpret classical texts and develop a style all their own--this is my style. (6) I talk like this: on the basketball court, on the corner, in front of the bodega, on the phone...where ever I am at...this is me! To ask me target the lumpenproliteriat and scale down my writing is insulting to me and them. The rappers I listen to: Skyzoo, Krs-One, Rakim, Nas, All of Wu-Tang, Ras Kass, etc, etc, etc, all use lyrics and language that leaves one befuddled. But. They don't scale down their lyrics! As my man Skyzoo said "That would be the obvious–obviously I should just

Vincent A Horne;  How Grandilous!  Had to look-up full definition; and it's not looking good: However, it can be a joy playing with words, - though to me, I like to be able to try and follow someone's patter. Quite often, how we write, can too reflect our personalities. - For instance, I tend to write pretty coursely at times, and I do this both naturally as well as intentional; - as my voice is a 'working class' East London accent, aka a "Cockney", - as that's what I am and where I come from. - It's been known for me to say; "I'm off down the frog, me whislte needs dry-cleaning, so I'll sort out the apples when I get back" - which deciphered means; "I'm off down the road [= frog and toad], me suit [= whistle and flute] needs dry-cleaning, so I'll sort out the stairs [apples and pears] when I get back".  So for me to start sounding like an Etonian, just wouldn't wash, I'd soon be sussed out, because I'd no doubt come-out with the odd; "Yeah but, no but, - init" - interwoven within a necklace Thesaurusised word, - so, I just thought bollocks! I'll write as close as I actually speak, true to myself , and stop all the pretention, - as after all, sad to say, my enemy is the middle-classes upward, [many people really don't know the 'true' definition of the 'middle-classses', as I know many a person, whom think as soon as they've landed themselves a job with a suit or uniform as their work attire, they have automatic rite of passage; and leap-frogged into the demensions of the middle-classes.  My messages are directed at the 'masses', knowing full well those in the middle-classes; read it, though many dare not respond, as they know it's an arrow sent directly to them and their nepotistc butty-boys that holds the masses to ransom, - though still in a language that I hope most will be able comprehend and understand.  Though saying all this, there are exceptions to the rules, which is there should be no rules and we are all free to express ourselves in whatever frivolous fashion we so wish, - and at times, like Justin's eloquently put 'masterpiece', - every now and again it's all good to put-out a rather more thought-out and constructed message, in a stlye and language ye olde Alpha, Delta, Kappa like Harvard or Oxford don would quite feel at home with...

Thanks Vince, I dig your writing as well. I recommended your articles to a lot of my friends in Harlem.

Vince, I don't even  know what that means(just kidding), and most Harvard grads are as imbecilic as our political/media blowhards. My bad, I'll try harder next time to scale down the vocab, but sometimes, the words just come to me. It was more about the message than sounding grandiloquent.
