We Don't Really Want What We Think We Desire

Slavoj Zizek - Big Think Video

He has an (amusing) point. Reminds me of Albert Szent-Gyorgyi's quote, "Here we stand in the middle of this new world with our primitive brain, attuned to the simple cave life, with terrific forces at our disposal, which we are clever enough to release, but whose consequences we cannot comprehend."

What exactly are we here to do? It seems like as soon as we get what we want, we're dissatisfied. Moving on to the next goal, which seems just as unsatisfying when we achieve it. And these psychological algorithms that comprise us make us easy prey for the human predators that rule over us.  We'll have to look at changing, at some point, or we'll either fall into a tyranny from which there is no escape, or die out entirely.

Is the goal of life to be sated, or to be forever unfulfilled?

Procreation and acquiring material security, elucidating on what were some of the mysteries of life, those don't seem to have really made things much better in this world. What do you think?

Get rid of the psychopaths and all mankind's problems will still exist. They'll just be easier to survive and occasionally possible to rectify.

It depends of what one desires...If one desires material things (as society teaches), then they forsake spiritual matters.  I believe that is the reason those in power set up society so that materialism is worshiped and made it our slave master.  It seems everything they do (vaccines, GMO foods, chemtrails, 5G...) is to prevent humans from attaining spiritual advancement by exposing us to unnatural chemicals or frequencies.  The greatest evil is that which deprives you of the greatest good.

Good points. However, the caveman theory has been proven wrong by many archaeologists especially with evidence of even more advanced civilizations that existed prior to our present state of technology. Human nature is self destructive no doubt about it! The megalomaniacs won't stop either. It seems enslavement is an inescapable human trait! With the possibility of world war always looming perhaps we were never intended to get off this rock." We are but property"-John Forte.
