I respect any person's right to worship whomever or whatever. But when someone says it could be a good idea to spread a religion as a means to combat a corrupted force, it is possibly not a good idea. What about people who do not believe the same as those wanting to enforce a certain religion? What I mean by saying "religion is oppressive in nature" is a skewed opinion of my own and does not fully explain my feelings toward religion. Religion is an effect not a cause (my own opinion). It is the effect of people coming together and building a community together. In that community traditions, rules and customs are established. The people drive the religion and mold it. Those in power will use anything to control the people; even religion. That's why I say it is dangerous to rely on religion to solve the problems of the world. Religion is corruptible. The core values we see in Islam we see in almost every other religion. Those values are in people. The point I'm trying to make is it doesn't make a difference if you have religion or not because like you said "with or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things." I think I'm trying to say I agree with you mostly.

peace,

Islam, like any religion is oppressive in nature. It rejects individual thought and punishes those who do not accept it. It will not empower the people, only further enslave us.
